NASA’s Astrophoto Challenges 2021

Welcome to the AstroPix public image gallery for the galaxy Messier 87, the Challenge target for the Summer 2021 edition of NASA’s Astrophoto Challenges. M87 is a monstrous elliptical galaxy that is host to one of the biggest black holes known. Many different telescopes on Earth and in space have captured image data of M87 at many different scales, wavelengths, and resolutions. Use these public release images from professional observatories to compare to the images you create yourself for NASA’s Astrophoto Challenges.
