NGC 613 seems like a good southern counterpart to the more famous barred spiral galaxy, NGC 7479. Astronomers studying this galaxy are interested in the processes that take place along the bar of the galaxy. One recent paper suggests that this galaxy could have two bar-like structures in its center. Studies of this galaxy in the radio wavelengths indicate that the nucleus is extremely active. There is some evidence for an accelerated and collimated jet of gas being expelled from the center of the galaxy. NGC 613 is around 64 million light years away. This image was taken as part of Advanced Observing Program (AOP) program at Kitt Peak Visitor Center during 2014.
