Wide-field view of the field around Monoceros R2

This visible light wide-field image of the region around Monoceros R2 was created from photographs taken through red and blue filters and forming part of the Digitized Sky Survey 2. The nebula NGC 2170, the brightest reflection nebula in this region, appears just to the right of centre. The field of view is approximately three degrees across.
